GTS RT/10
ACR
NOTE: MOST INFO AND SPECS ON THIS PAGE IS FROM THE 2001 GTS ACR and RT/10 (above)
Once you experience this exotic roadster, with its wildly strong 450-horsepower V10, you'll understand why it's called a "Viper." Maybe it's the agile way it handles twists and turns. Or its sleek, sculpted body, hypnotic polyellipsoid headlamps and its optional distinctive race stripes. Or perhaps the way it placed first and second in its class at Le Mans. Clearly, at Viper's top speed of 192 miles per hour, you'll have to think fast to catch one.
---Pop the hood and get a load of this heart-pounding engine. It's no surprise that it's painted red. This remarkable 8.0-liter V10 engine puts out a whopping 450 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 490 pound-feet of torque at 3,700 rpm. And with this sort of power, you need to have an engine that's also calm, cool, and connected. It's made from lightweight, durable, and easy to cool aluminum, with cylinder liners of cast iron. Forged steel is used for connecting rods and crankshaft, stainless steel for exhaust manifolds, and magnesium for rocker covers.
---Viper's aerodynamic profile, sculpted body, scooped vents and exotic, aggressive styling give a feeling of motion, even at a standstill. Add to that distinctive details like polyellipsoid headlamps and fog lamps and you have an American original that's hard to pass by without a second look.
Lingenfelter
---With a car like this, you won't need a double espresso. To a race car driver, automotive competence is not measured in terms of cup holders and electronic compasses, but with a few logically placed controls and legible gauges. We do offer some ammenities you'll appreciate, though. Like standard premium leather-trimmed seats. These two manually adjustable sport seats feature integral head restraints, adjustable lumbar support, side bolsters, and optimal high-back support.
And though Viper is about going fast, it's also about keeping its occupants safe with Next Generation Driver and Front-Passenger Air Bags* with passenger air bag on/off switch and three-point seat belts. A supplemental five-point restraint system, similar to the restraint systems found in official racing vehicles, is standard on ACR only
Viper Standard Features
---Powerful engines demand the stiffest chassis possible. Stabilizing the tremendous horsepower and torque generated by Viper's 8.0L engine is an incredibly intractable platform. Inspired by classic racing car chassis design, this tubular space frame with center spine structure employs cast aluminum control arms, Koni coil-over-shock springs, and cast aluminum steering knuckles that link the power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering system with the aluminum wheels and Michelin Pilot tires. See a Dodge dealer to experience Viper's handling for yourself.
