E.L. ("Tenspeed") Turner, played by Ben Vereen was a hustler and master of disguises who became a detective to meet his parole requirements. Lionel "Brown Shoe" Whitney, played by Jeff Goldblum, was his well-to-do partner whose sluething techniques took on the tone of 1940's novels and Bogart movies. Their agency was located off Sunset Blvd. in L.A.
This show included lots of undercover work and high-speed chases. In early 1980, "Tenspeed and Brown Shoe" was launched with a huge promotional campaign which was responsible for its huge ratings...for its first 2 episodes. After that, viewership declined rapidly until it was finally cancelled. |
