Joel Adolph Machado was born on November 2, 1962. At the age of 5, Joel won his first award as a Song Writer and was recognized by the Daughters of the American Revolution with a first place award. Joel continued to write his music and sing throughout Texas in local talent shows winning several awards. His singing career was placed on hold in 1980 when Joel enlisted in the United States Air Force. During his 10 years in the Air Force, Joel was a recognized member of the Keesler Male Chorus. He found his way back to San Antonio where he was stationed on Lackland AFB as a Drill Instructor. There, he continued to participate in Talent shows and was even selected to become a member of the TOPs In Blues Road Show.
