reasonable sized terrarium is required - 36 x 18 inches, about two feet in height is usually enough. Although this snake does not climb as much as other types, it does need some elevated spots to perch.

At least one hide box must be provided, and two is better. Once side of the terrarium should be the "hot" side, with a heat lamp overhead and a heating pad under the cage. A temperature in the range of 80-85F should be maintained, with the cooler side in the 75-80F range.

Special UV lighting is not required, the ball python will get it's vitamin and calcium needs met by it's prey.

A large, low sided water dish is required. They do like to take the occasional "bath". Newspaper makes a good covering for the floor - it is easy to replace and clean. The disadvantage is that you must change it all at once; it isn't easy to clean spots of it.

A few good sized rocks for basking, and a branch that extends to near the top of the terrarium will allow your ball python to find a suitable spot
