I'm doing better! Much better - I'm actually updating the home page in the same year.
new 11/08/08 - there are even more new updates on the Regency pages. I am in the process of inventorying my books again (lost all my data when my 'puter died in August of this year) so it's been fun (and challenging) to redo everything. However, the "up" side to it all is that it's given me a chance to update the website here, as well as giving me a chance to purge my books along the way.
During a previous site update, I said I was hoping to get back to listing the traditional Regencies - well, if you're a Regency fan you know that the trads are no longer, and we've been mourning this loss over on the Regency list at YahooGroups. We've been doing some retro-reading of favorite older Regencies and discovering some new Regency historical authors. The historicals aren't quite the same thing, the feeling is so different, and in general the quality of the historicals published these days straddles the average to mediocre with barely a few rare gems.
When I last wrote, I had just (re)discovered Tess Gerritsen (who has a new one out), now I have two authors to share with you, romance authors I've just discovered this year: Hailey North and Metsy Hingle. Unfortunately North hasn't had a book out since November 2007 but her backlist is well worth hunting down. Her usual setting is New Orleans, one of my favorite places on earth, and there are a few of her titles that tie-in together but on the whole her books are single titles and they're cute and funny and thoroughly enjoyable.
The other author I just discovered is Metsy Hingle who also writes books set in and around New Orleans but besides her category romances she also writes suspense with just the right touch of romance, the NO settings are awesome. In the last 10 days I read her BLACK SILK and FLASH POINT, and two of her other rom/susp titles are waiting to be picked up at the library. Do check out these authors if you haven't read them yet. I think you'll enjoy them.
I've been updating some of the Regency pages - both the booklists at the author pages, and a few at the Signet Regency pages.
The MedievalReader list is chugging along in its own quiet way. After seeing the unrest and turmoil on some of the other Lists, I think it's refreshing to find a quiet place where we can discuss our favorites (both books and authors). If you're interested in signing on to the list, please send a blank e-mail to MedievalReader-subscribe@yahoogroups.com - we look forward to having you join us!
The harlequinpresentsfans group is also doing well - we're having a great time discussing our favorite Harlequin Presents books, talking about our favorite HP authors. If you're a long-time fan or new to Presents, come and join us. Simply send a blank e-mail to harlequinpresentsfans@yahoogroups.com to sign on and join the discussions. It isn't a large volume list - the messages comes in fits and spurts, just the right amount of message traffic.
