What's Pokemon Yellow?

After finishing Pokemon Red and Blue, does your craving for Pokemon ache for more? Are you tired of waiting for Pokemon Gold and Silver to hit American Shores? Well, if so, Pokemon Yellow might just be the game you need. Pokemon Yellow, in a nutshell, is basically a beefed up remake of the original Blue and Red. You have the same storyline, world, and Pokemon

So what's so great and knew that you should but Pokemon Yellow?

Plenty! Pokemon Yellow offers a variety of little updated goodies that would tickle any Pokemaniac's taste buds. Pikachu Fans get ready to be overjoyed. This game is based a lot around Pikachu. Pikachu is now your starting Pokemon. That's right, you get him from the start, but don't worry, because you can get all three of the original starters (Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle) in the game. This game is aiming more on the animated show's storyline. That means you will get to meet up with Jesse and James, and do a lot of other goodies based on the television show. There are still plenty of other new things to do in Pokemon Yellow. All in all though, this is still basically the same game

New Art

All Pokemon Art has been redone. Since Pokemon Yellow is aimed more on following the television show, the pokemon were made to look more like they do on the show. Even Brock and Misty have their clothes from the television show. All of these new features will add a lot more depth than that of Red and Blue. Also new is Pikachu animations. Since Pikachu is not in a pokeball, he follows you from behind. If you want, you can turn around and see what mood he is in. If he is mad, you are obviously not paying good attention to him. If he is happy, you are. Get it? YOU SHOULD MAKE SURE TO KEEP Pikachu extra happy, for it will determine what Pokemon you can get.

Gary
Gary's starting Pokemon has also changed. His starter Pokemon is now the awesome Eevee. If you beat or lose to Gary determines what Pokemon his Eevee evolves into. If you lose to Gary in your first battle he will evolve his Eevee into Vaporeon. He'll evolve it into Jolteon if you beat him in the first battle and beat him west of Viridian. If you miss or lose to the battle west of Viridian he'll evolve it into Flareon.

Surfing Pikachu?
That's right. There is a new little mini game called Surfing Pikachu. This little goodie can be unlocked only after you have gotten Pokemon Stadium. You can then transfer the Surfing Pikachu to your Pokemon Yellow. You are Pikachu on a surfboard riding waves and doing tricks and gaining points.

New Moves

Some Pokemon have been altered a bit to learn new moves and to learn new TMs and HMs. Pikachu is also a lot stronger than in Red and Blue because he is a main character and very rare.

Printing your Pokemon
You can now print your Pokemon stats in Pokemon Yellow. You can go to your Pokedex and you will see a new option that lets you print the Pokedex entry. Also, in one of the cities there is a print house where you can print your Pokemon's stats. I nice little edition to make the game a little more enjoyable.

Coliseum 2
For Pokemon Yellow only is the Coliseum 2. This allows 2 players to battle it out with certain limitations and rules. There are 3 modes to the Coliseum 2. Petit Cup, Poke Cup and Pika Cup. Each has it's own unique rules and regulations you must abide by. Sadly for all you Mew lovers out there, Mew can not participate in any of the modes in Coliseum 2.

Conclusion
Pokemon Yellow is definitely not for everyone. If you have Pokemon Red or Blue, and want something new, and not just the same game with added features, this isn't your cup of tea. If you are aching for more Pokemania, this is it. With all the added features, Pokemon Yellow spreads itself apart enough from Blue and Red to be a unique game in it's own aspect. This game is very enjoyable, and the new modes are a real plus. This could satisfy you until Gold and Silver hit the states.
