Icy Strait Point is a new (2004) cruise port located on Chichagof Island some 22 miles southeast of the entrance to Glacier Bay and 40 air miles west of Juneau. It is one mile from Hoonah, a small town of slightly less than one thousand inhabitants, which is also the largest Tlingit (pronounced Leen'git) community in southeast Alaska. The port currently requires tenders but an eventual dock will be built to accommodate cruise ships.
