R' YEHUDA (D. 1469)= HE WAS A TALMID OF THE BAALEI H'TOS. He was the father of Yaakov Boruch.

R' YAAKOV BORUCH - HE WAS KNOWN AS "THE AGUR". He was the son of Yehuda, and the father of Yekusiel.

R' YEKUSIEL = He was the son of Yaakov Boruch, and the father of Moshe Hazoken.

* R' MOSHE HAZOKEN (D. 1560)= HE WAS FROM THE FAMILY OF THE REMA (1520-1572) . The term 'Hazoken' means "the elderly man" and was used to refer to a man who had achieved a great degree of respect and had reached a ripe old age. He was the son of Yekusiel, and the father of Binyomin Wolf Segal Landau.

* R' BINYOMIN WOLF SEGAL LANDAU = HE WAS A DAYAN IN APTOW. He was the son of Moshe Hazoken, and the father of Herzl Landi.

* R' HERZL LANDI (B. 1589) - VITESH WITISCH (B. 1593). Herzl Landi was the son of Binyomin Wolf Segal Landau, and the father of Yechezkel Segal I Landi.

* R' YECHEZKEL SEGAL I LANDI (B. APPROX 1615/18)- WITTISCH LANDAU (B. APPROX 1620) CRACOW (KRAKOW).
HE WAS A DAYAN IN APTOW. SHE WAS THE DAUGHTER OF R' YITZCHOK SPITZKOPF (B. APPROX. 1600, DIED 1682) WHO WAS KNOWN AS ISAAC CHARIF (also known as Witeles - which means Charif - sharp). R' ISAAC CHARIF WAS THE AV BEIS DIN IN APTOW, CRACOW. PATERNAL GRANDFATHER OF WITTISCH WAS ELIYAHU HALEVI LANDAU ZEEV OETTING (B. 1574 CRACOW). R' Isaac Charif's wife was the daughter of R' NACHUM who was Av Bais Din in Zausmer. R' Nahum's wife was the daughter of R' ISAAC KATZ. R'Yechezkel Segal I Landi was the son of Herzl Landi, and the father of Zvi Hirsh Vitesh Witeles (Charif) Landau.

* R' ZVI HIRSH VITESH WITELES (CHARIF) LANDAU (1643 - 1714) WAS MARRIED TWICE. HE WAS A DELEGATE TO THE COUNCIL OF THE FOUR LANDS. Witeles means charif which is the hebrew word for wise or sharp. HIS FIRST WIFE WAS BORN IN 1646 HILDESHEIM, GERMANY AND WAS THE MOTHER OF R' YEHUDA LANDAU. SHE WAS THE GRANDMOTHER OF THE NODA B'YEHUDA. IT IS UNCERTAIN AS TO WHETHER SHE IS THE DAUGHTER OF ELIEZER WHO WAS THE AV BEIS DIN IN DUBNO, OR WHETHER CHAYA, THE MOTHER OF NODA B'YEHUDA WAS THE DAUGHTER OF R' ELIEZER. R' ELIEZER WAS THE GRANDSON OF R' ABRAHAM YEHOSHUA HESCHEL OF CRACOW (KRAKOW). Zvi Hirsh Vitesh Witeles (Charif) Landau was the son of Yechezkel Segal I Landi, and the father of Yehuda Landau.

*R' YEHUDA LANDAU (B.1672 HILDESHEIM- D.1737 APTOW) - CHAYA - (D.1740). SHE WAS THE DAUGHTER OF ELIEZER, THE AV BEIS DIN IN DUBNO. FOR INFORMATION REGARDING HER DESCENDANCY FROM R' ABRAHAM YEHOSHUA HESCHEL PLEASE GO TO THE RASHI LINEAGE PAGE. HER PATERNAL GRANDFATHER WAS YISROEL BEIRISH OF CRACOW. Yehuda Landau was the son of Zvi Hirsh Vitesh Witeles (Charif) Landau, and the father of Yechezkel Landau, the Noda B'Yehuda.

* R' YECHEZKEL LANDAU, THE NODA B'YEHUDA CHIEF RABBI IN PRAGUE (PRAHA) (1713-1793)- LIEBE (D.1789). HER FATHER WAS YAKOBKE. They had 8 children, including Shmuel, Mirel, Jacobke, Yarit, Miriam, Freida, Yosef, and Elke. MORE INFORMATION WILL BE ENTERED SHORTLY.

* R' YEHUDA LEIBISH LANDAU (1800-1860) MALKA BAILA RAPPAPORT = SHE WAS THE DAUGHTER OF R' CHAIM HACOHEN RAPPAPORT OF LISSA, AND HER GREAT-GRANDFATHER WAS THE R' CHAIM HACOHEN RAPPAPORT THE RAV OF LEMBERG (LVIV). Yehuda Leibish Landau was the father of Chaim Froim Landau.

* R' CHAIM FROIM LANDAU (APPROX 1830-1890)- TOBY DILLER = THEY LIVED IN DINOV (DYNOW). HER FATHER WAS R' BORUCH DILLER, HER GRANDFATHER WAS R' SIMCHA DILLER FROM SANOK. HER SIBLINGS WERE WOLF DILLER THE SON-IN-LAW OF REBBE REB HERSH MEILECH OF DINOV (Rabbi Zvi Elimelech Shapiro of Dinov (1783-1841), ITZIKEL DILLER A DAYAN IN STRIZINSK, YITKE DILLER MARRIED TO YITZCHOK WOLF DILLER, AND SOSHE DILLER MARRIED TO SHMUEL WASSERMAN. Chaim Froim Landau was the son of Yehuda Leibish Landau, and the father of Yitzchok Shmuel Landau.

* R' YITZCHOK SHMUEL LANDAU (APPROX 1858-1930) - BLIMA. THEY LIVED IN SANOK, BUT R' YITZCHOK SHMUEL WAS BORN IN DINOV (DYNOW). THEY HAD SEVERAL CHILDREN. He was the son of Chaim Froim Landau, and the father of Asher Lemel Landau.

* R' ASHER LEMEL LANDAU (1888-1950)- CHAYA STIMLER (1898-1984) = HE WAS BEN ACHAR BEN 'SON AFTER SON' A GRANDCHILD OF THE NODA B'YEHUDA. R' ASHER LEMEL WAS REGARDED HIGHLY BY R' YOSEF CARLEBACH, THE CHIEF RABBI IN HAMBURG, GERMANY. CHAYA WAS THE DAUGHER OF R' PINCHAS MEIR STIMLER. R' PINCHAS MEIR WAS BORN IN POLAND, MOVED WITH HIS FAMILY TO GERMANY IN 1904, AND WAS CLOSE WITH R' MEIR SHAPIRO OF LUBLIN WHO IS FAMOUS FOR CREATING THE DAF HAYOMI. R' PINCHAS MEIR STIMLER DONATED LARGE SUMS OF MONEY AND ACCOMPANIED R' MEIR SHAPIRO OF LUBLIN TO COLLECT FUNDS TO ESTABLISH THE YESHIVA CHACHMEI LUBLIN IN POLAND. MANY OTHER GREAT DIGNITARIES OF THAT ERA VISITED THE HOME OF R' PINCHAS MEIR STIMLER. Asher Lemel Landau was the son of Yitzchok Shmuel Landau, and the father of 3 children.
