‘Meaning’

Christmas time is for games and fun,
For making cakes, and the odd bun.
You have a laugh and eat some sweets,
Christmas time is full of treats.
Gifts are under the Christmas tree,
Lot’s of presents for you and me.
But don’t forget what it’s all about.
In your mind, with out a doubt.
Because lot’s of people do not know,
The meaning of Christmas isn’t all gifts and snow.
It’s the birthday of Jesus, remember that,
It not about eating turkey and getting fat,
It’s celebrating life and being with your friends,
That’s why in people’s hearts Christmas never ends.

NIKKI FIRTH Xmas 98

'Reminds me of Christmas' '98

People kissing under mistletoe,
All the earth cover in white snow.
Santas sack full of toys,
For all us good like girls and boys.
Turkey cooking with Christmas pud,
It all tastes as good as it should.
Everyone smiling, not a tear.
As this special day only happens once a year.

THE GIFT by Roy Harper

It was right around midnight and I heard a clatter
I wasn't concerened what was the matter.
I fluffed my pillow and reassured Ma -
"Go back to sleep. It's Santa Claus."

Down the chimney, to the living room,
He took care of business like a sonic boom;
And then I heard a "ho, Ho, Ho ",
and I knew off he'd go.

But all of a sudden I heard a thump, thump, thump
Perhaps Santa's sleigh on my house did bump.
So I decided I better take a look
I put up the ladder and climbed to the roof.

Now, I knew Santa had looked in his book
and he'd found that I've been good,
but up on the roof what did appear -
a 'special' gift from a reindeer.

I've seen 'droppings' before, but never this size
fall out of the clouds or down from the sky;
Here was something earthly made -
a miniature sewer on my roof did lay -
the size of a bowling ball
the smell of chocolate chip,
And over the side of my roof -
an awful drip !

Then Ma awoke to look outside
There she saw the terrible sight :
Tho not too smart; she DID know
that brown is not the color of snow !

I took a double strength garbage bag to the roof
and admidst the prints of reindeer hoof;
I took my shovel and held my nose
Put the 'gift' in the bag,and got the hose.

As I watered the mess to the ground
I looked up for a passing sound;
It was Santa's sleigh, reindeer collars going jingle
Santa waved; I gave the reindeer 'the' finger.
"Goodnight to All", I heard him say
"Hey Santa - next year come without the sleigh".

Have no doubt that Santa is real
He does come each and every year.
The evidence left behind is surely proof
cause I was blessed with Rudolph's poop !!

GET READY KIDS….

Christmas, Christmas is nearly here,
All the kids get in gear.
Santa Claus is getting set,
To send his presents, so don’t you threat.

As long as you have all been good,
You’ll get your gifts, as you should.
And if you have been very bad,
Then on Christmas day you’ll be feeling sad.

So decorate the Christmas tree,
And make sure you’re as polite as can be.
As Santa’s little helpers will tell,
If you being swearing or starting to yell.

So be nice to mum and be nice to dad.
And whatever you do don’t get them mad.
Christmas it’s that far away,
So be nice and it will pay.

LEROYSTER SAVES CHRISTMAS by Roy Harper

Twas the week before Christmas and all thru the bay
The oysters swam about, and were at play.
Admidst them all was a feeling of glee
and the happiness of being free.

Then all of a sudden came a turbulent noise
"Surely", said one - "Too early for Santa to be dropping toys."
They shut their shells and hid under rocks
went seperate ways as to not be in flocks.

Some knew what was happening and were severely stressing,
It was AGAIN the time of year for oyster dressing !!!
On and on went a terrible commotion -
It was harvesters' rakes in a sweeping motion.

"Surely", Leroyster sat and thought
"There must be a way to stop this onslaught."
Someone had to solve this matter
or they'd all end up on someone's platter.

Then Leroyster remembered a gift he'd gotten by mistake.
Last year, Santa had thought his age was eight;
But, as an oyster, it's eight times six
but Leroyster had saved those 'colored sticks'.

Crayon, Crayons ! - all those colors in one box
Leroyster got an idea to stop the assault.
He took a purple, red, and yellow
smashed em, mixed em with water, until they were jello.

He let it loose to the top to rise
when he heard a voice from above - "STOP. There's Red Tide"
The harvesters' rakes and water churning did stop.
They were moving elsewhere to find a crop.

All the oysters opened their shells to appear
and, for Leroyster, they let out a cheer.
Leroyster had certainly saved the day,
and sea creatures, from miles, came to give him a parade.

There were clams, shrimp, mussells, too
for Leroyster had saved them also from being stew
But Leroyster told them all of the lesson learned -
'"Though you don't see fire, things still burn -
You never know if the 'end' is near;
so - make it the best of Christmas's, and a Happy New Year!!!!!"
