BIOGRAPHY -

Portia was one of two children raised by her medical receptionist mom. Her father died when she was 9. She started a modeling career at age 11 and did tv commercials at 14. She entered the University of Melbourne at age 18 to study law, but a got a break by appearing in the film "Sirens". She followed that by moving to Los Angeles in 1994 to concentrate on show business. She now stars on Fox's hit Ally McBeal as Nelle Porter.
