THE SONGWORDS TO ME -
What do I see, that's the question I'm most afraid of, one that asks me what I'm really made of. What do I see, much more than a reflection, romance with sheere perfection. I see me! Isee me! Actress, woman, star and lover, sister, sweetheart, slave and mother, Isee me, and I like what I see, virgin, temptress, dream of others, yes it's me! Yes it's me!
(We see you).
You mean me!
(I don't got a shameless hussy, diva, princess, lude and lusty, ahhhhhhhhhhhh.).
That's not me, can't be me.
(Angel, devil..)
..You can trust me, mama me, I see.
(Clap)
Whoo, Whoo.
Everywhere I look baby, all I see is...
(...A contradiction...)
...Ahh come on...
(...A bad addiction...)
...Knock it off...
(...An inspiration...)
...That's more like it...
(...To a generation...)
...Now you're talkin'.
(That's Yooooooooou),
That's Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
UP AND COMING PROJECTS.
SUCCESS
HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - Cameron Diaz is close to a deal to team with Meryl Streep in "Success." The Paramount Pictures drama concerns an "All About Eve"-style mentor/protege relationship between two female TV network executives. While no director has yet been tapped, "Success" is tentatively scheduled for a spring shoot. The original script was by the husband and wife team of John Gregory Dunne and Joan Didion.
STILL LIFE(working title "FAMILY LIFE")
HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - Michael Douglas and Meryl Streep are set to star in 'Still Life,' a family drama that will be directed by Mimi Leder (Deep Impact). The Universal project is about an estranged couple who, after the death of their daughter, are forced to confront their past and their relationship with one another -- while trying to raise their grandchildren. The studio wants ``Still Life'' on a fast track, but because of schedules for Douglas, Streep and Leder, the picture probably will not get into production until the fall of 1999.

MERYL STREEP INTERVIEW,
Streep: "Movie obession with hookers"
Hoolywood perpetuates the myth that prostitutes are the only interesting female characters, claims two-time Oscar winning star Meryl Streep.
She said: "If Martians landed and did nothing but go to the movies, they would come to the conclusion that the chief occupation of women on Earth is hooking - and I don't mean rugs".
Streep's latest film is Music Of The Heart.
"Over 70% of scripts are for men", complains Meryl Streep, 50, "A lot of scripts get sent to me which my agents don't even pass on - they're so used to my rejecting them".
She even turned down the Music Of The Heart script initially. But director Wes Craven persisted.
She says: "I said I can't play the violin, you've got me mixed up with someone else. Then Wes wrote me the most amazing letter". Director Wes Craven wrote to Meryl that he'd waited 20 years to do such a story as Music Of The Heart.
Streep says: "I was basically seduced by his passion for it". Madonna had been his first choice. She walked out after falling out with him.
The film tells the real life story of violin teacher Roberta Guaspari whose violin classes for East Harlem under-privileged kids earned hr acclaim.
Streep prctised the violin for two months, four ours a day, under teacher Sandy Park, she'd only studied the piano for 18 months as a teenager.
She says: "I essentially learned to play by ear. Thank God I got the extra time to practise otherwise I would have been really embarrased. I went from Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to Bach's Double Concerto. I had to we played live at the concert.
The orchestral virtuosi in Music Of The Heart were amazed to learn that Meryl had only two months' training on the violin because she was good.
So far as acting is concerned, it plays second fiddle to her family as a mother of four. She's been married for 20 years. They live in Conneticut, only visitig LA if Streep is on location.
For Music Of The Heart, she commuted o New York each day by helicopter.
Nine years ago Streep decided she would no longer go 'anywhere' to do a movie whn she was making Postcards From The Edge with Shirley MacClaine.
She says: "My son Henry said he was sick of always being the new kid in school. By then he'd been in pre-school in New York, nursery school in Texas, kindergarten in London, first grade in Africa and second grade in Austalia. He had a point. Now I can bring kids to the set".
Meryl Streep is happy to balance family and career. She says: "I can't imagine only having a virtual life. I can't imagine my life without my children and everything that entails. On te other hand I need to act, I love it. I would probably need pills or therapy if I didn't act. It's what keeps me sane".
