Hand stitched. Each glove is made to measure in Cork so please send or fax two drawings of your hand, fingers closed and fingers open. Most falconers use a left-hand glove, but if you are left-handed a right-hand glove can be made at the same price. Traditional tassel and leash-ring are standard. Tassels are for hanging up the glove on a nail to prevent mice gnawing the meat stained leather, but they can be a nuisance in the field, when climbing over barbed wire or electric fences, so so please state if not wanted. Gloves are usually made suede side out, but can be customised to suit. Simple decorations (leaves, initials, hood or falcon silouettes etc.) are standard and can also be customised to taste. Please order a glove appropriate to the size of the hawk you have now. Thicker leather and double reinforcements are for large hawks. It is almost impossible to hold the fine jesses and small swivel of a kestrel on a glove made for a redtail. It is a false economy for a beginner to try to fly a small hawk from a glove made for a larger one because he hopes to trade up later on, he may just lose his kestrel because of it. We will give you a discount on a second glove, even if you order it a couple of years after the first. A. Single thickness glove in beautiful soft reindeer hide for spars and kestrels. Single thickness cowhide glove, wrist length for spars, kestrels and smaller, gentle longwings, such as lanners and peregrine tiercels- IR£40 For larger hawks buckskin gloves are the best and longest lasting. This leather is so dense it is impossible to pierce even with a needle and special triangular points have to be used. D.
