| New Device Will Revolutionize Watercraft Propulsion |
| A new type of patent pending motor driven propulsion device has been developed and tested. The device also has many other applications apart from usage as a propulsion mechanism, of which two are described on other pages (see actuating generator mechanism and pump). As a propulsion device, this invention can be used as an environmentally friendly alternative to the traditional propeller.The device has little or no negative impact on marine life/ environment because it has no sharp edges, limited turbulent action, and low noise. The device is also extremely efficient in two ways. First, because of the unique nature of the drive mechanism, the device allows little slippage as it tracks at all points with the water it propels itself against. Secondly, because of the efficient tracking mechanism, the device produces little or no cavitation (bubbling effect), a problem which seriously impedes the operation of all propellers at high speed. The device, therefore, not only utilizes less energy, but can achieve a very high rate of speed. Some particular usages for the device include submarine propulsion (reduces or eliminates bubbling noise - a big problem for the navy when quiet running is required to avert detection by an enemy), boat propulsion in fragile marine environments such as shallow reef areas or where marine life is endangered by sharp propeller blades, and an advantageous trolling mechanism for sport fishermen. In general, however, the device can be applied to all watercraft in all situations where energy saving and operational efficiency are desirable factors. |
