The MikDenmark Walkway started in December in the year 1998. It was originally built as only a temporary walkway with only one trail. Later in December it grew to about five trails. Then in January 1999, an igloo was built. Not a big igloo, but a small enough one so one man, about 4 foot 8 inches could fit in it. Later in January, there was terrible news that the walkway had to be demolished because fears that the igloo would collapse. So, the walkway was destroyed.
Then in December 1999, the walkway was built again. The walkway only lasted about one week, then record high temperatures melted the walkway. Next in January 2000, the walkway was built again. It was maintained even in record cold temperatures in the -20's celcius. |
