SAN ANTONIO -- A train crashed into an unoccupied car in Guadalupe County late Thursday.
Guadalupe County sheriff's officials said a woman's car got stuck on some railroad tracks at Country Lane and FM 78 outside of Cibolo at 11 p.m.
While she went to get some help, a Union Southern Pacific train slammed into the vehicle and dragged it for a quarter mile.
No injuries were reported.
SAN ANTONIO -- Several families escaped injury but lost their units to a fire at a West Side apartment complex overnight.
Tim Morre, a tenant at the Westway Apartments in the 5600 block of Culebra, said his family was asleep when his mother-in-law heard a smoke alarm from the laundry room wail at 3 a.m.
"We rushed the kids out as quick as we can," he said. "Grabbed a couple cups of water, threw it on the flames. It just burst up and kept getting hotter and hotter, so we ran out the house."
Morre said he then starting knocking on his neighbors' doors to alert them to the blaze.
The fire, which was blamed on an electrical short, was contained to the laundry room.
Morre had just moved to San Antonio from St. Louis last week.
