WHAT YOU WILL LEARN: You will be instructed in traditional Korean Karate (Kong Soo Do/Tae Kwon Do). The system is technically known as "Sorim mit Soryong Yu." The style or school is called "Jung Moo Kwan." You will learn the one-step fighting techniques, the formal patterns known as "hyung" or "kata," and the application of the moves within the patterns. This is the original way Karate was taught. You will learn everything that is taught in a traditional Karate class.
WHO WILL TEACH YOU: Dr. Charles Owens is certified as a World-Class Senior Master Instructor of Jung Moo Kwan Kong Soo Do/Tae Kwon Do. He holds an 8th degree Black Belt and has 35 years' experience in Korean martial arts. He has studied and trained under some of the of the most renowned Korean masters for more than 30 years.
HOW YOU WILL BE TAUGHT: You will receive personal instruction by videotape, and you can learn in the comfort of your own home. This is the same instruction that is received in class by Jung Moo Kwan students. Each lesson is designed for you and only you. You will also be provided with Karate instruction books now in publication. The techniques in the books will also be covered in the instructional video. The instructor will keep up with you via e-mail. Currently the format is available in VHS & 8mm video. Instruction will soon be available in CD-ROM.
HOW YOU WILL BE TESTED FOR RANK: After you have ordered and received all the instruction for a particular rank, you may request a rank test. You will be required to submit a videotape of all techniques that you have been taught, and you will be required to pass a written test via e-mail. You will be advised via e-mail of your test results.
WHAT IT WILL COST YOU: Each instructional videotape is made just for you. The cost of each taped session is $65 and includes about a month's worth of instruction as well as the required textbooks. You may move at your own pace. If you pass the rank test, your certificate fee is $25. It takes about four videotapes to receive all the instruction for a rank.
