Australians dress like we do except that the seasons of the year are opposite ours. When it is summer here, it is winter there. Many schools require students to wear uniforms. |

WHAT KINDS OF HOUSES DO THEY LIVE IN?????-
Most families live in single-story houses, each with its own garden.
In some parts of Australia, the older houses are made of wood with wide porches and they are built above the ground on poles called stumps.
In other parts of Australia many of the older houses are made of brick or stone and built in rows called terraces.> |

WHAT DO THEY EAT???
Bush Tucker is the name for traditional Australian food. Damper is flat bread cooked on an open fire. Billy tea is a drink. It is cooked in a pot on the fire. Mutton is a common meat. Mutton is sheep meat. Seafood is very popular in Australia. For many years, Aboriginees found their food all around. They still hunt kangaroo, catch fish, and eat berries and plants. Sometimes they eat insects. Tea and coffee are the most favourite hot drinks. Australians eat meat pies as snacks and call french fries, "chips." |

WHAT DO THEY DO FOR FUN???
Australians spend a lot of time outdoors and love sports. They play soccer, rugby, football, golf, swimming, sailing, surfing and fishing. Australia's national summer sport is cricket. It is played with a bat and a ball. Off the coast of Australia is the Great Barrier Reef. It is the world's largest coral reef. At the reef, people dive, wade, and watch fish. |

Australia is found just south of the Equator. It is the world's smallest continent and the world's largest island. The climate is different all over. Much of the weather consists of clear skies, warm temperature and low rainfall. Winter months are June, July and August. Summer months are December, January and February. |
