Revolution, Shoelace Studio Court Sitcom
Revolution Studios and Julia Roberts' Shoelace Prods. are taking their first plunge into TV production with a court-based dramedy pilot for CBS and Regency Television. "Queens Supreme" is set in a Queens, N.Y., courthouse and will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the work of the judges at the highest trial court in New York. Kevin Fox ("The Negotiator") is writing the pilot and executive producing with Roberts' producing partner Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Dan Thomas. Maggie Murphy, Regency Television senior vp drama, said the project aims "to do for legal drama what 'M*A*S*H' did for medical drama." Last year, Revolution bought a romantic comedy pitch from Fox as a potential starring vehicle for Roberts. Separately, NBC has given a cast-contingent pilot order to Warner Bros.TV/Castle Rock TV's small-screen take on Jake Kasdan's 1998 feature "Zero Effect," about an offbeat private detective. Kasdan and Emmy and Oscar winner Walon Green will executive produce the pilot for the peacock network. No word yet if Julie will at least make an appearance.

Julia One Of E!'s Sexiest
The Rank crew over at E! Online compiled a list of the year's sexiest women, and our Julia ended at number fifteen, beating Salma Hayek and Nicole Kidman to the punch. Jennifer Lopez topped the list followed by Britney Spears, Angelina Jolie and Halle Berry.

Eric Roberts: "My Sister Can't Act"
Julia Roberts' brother Eric Roberts has lashed out at his little sister for failing to support him in his times of need. The 46-year-old actor has slipped from the limelight in recent years, despite earning an Oscar-nomination for Runaway Train in 1985. But he says Julia - who made one of her first movie appearances in Eric's 1988 starring vehicle Blood Red - has been of no help to him in recent years. And the embittered actor even goes as far as to say his Oscar- winning sister can't act! He says, "I helped Julia but she has never helped me. Everyone's going on about how great she was in Erin Brockovich but what did she actually do? Wear some push-up bras. It wasn't great acting. Hollywood has never embraced me. Part of that is my fault because of my behavior in the past, but Julia could have helped me. When she's been in a situation to help, she wanted nothing to do with me."

Julia Roberts, the San Francisco Treat

The latest project to pop up on Philip Kaufman's North Beach radar screen is a thriller starring Julia Roberts as an investigative reporter tracking a killer through the Internet. Given the actress' status as queen of the Hollywood hill (anthill? molehill?) and Sony's hankering to have a Roberts vehicle in theaters next Christmas, Perfect Stranger is a solid bet to go before the cameras this year. Sopranos ace Frank Renzulli is speedily rewriting the screenplay; the film will be shot -- and set -- in San Francisco. "We want to stay close to here, with all the [post-9/11] stuff going on," reports Peter Kaufman, the director's son and longtime producer. Somebody oughta tip off Cole Valley homeowner Benjamin Bratt.

Julia Roberts Reveals Her Oscar Pick for Best Actress of 2001

Last year's Best Actress Oscar® winner for her role in "Erin Brockovich" has chimed in with her vote for the Best Actress of this year. Julia Roberts revealed her choice backstage at the People's Choice Awards on Sunday. "I think Sissy Spacek should take it home to Virginia with her fine-acting self," Roberts said. "That would make me happy." Roberts was referring to Spacek's role in the family drama "In the Bedroom." Spacek, who previously won for 1980's "Coal Miner's Daughter," has already generated considerable Oscar buzz and has even won awards from the American Film Institute and the Los Angeles Films Critics Association. "I thought it was a great movie," Roberts gushed. "I just think she's an all-around tremendous actress."

'Confessions' Goes To Canada

After abandoning Montreal for the last six months of 2001, Hollywood film-makers are finally returning to town and, with five major Tinseltown shoots already confirmed, it looks to be a boom year for U.S. filming here. George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Angelina Jolie, Billy Bob Thornton, Anthony Hopkins and Nicole Kidman are all either already in town or on their way to spend part of the winter working here. Clooney has been in and out of town for the past couple of months preparing his directorial debut, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, one of the hotter projects in the movie world right now. Clooney was here for four days of shooting in mid-December, but the production on the flick begins in earnest tomorrow and will continue for the next two months. Confessions stars Clooney, Sam Rockwell, Drew Barrymore and Julia Roberts. There are also plans to have Clooney's Ocean's Eleven co-stars Matt Damon and Brad Pitt drop into town to shoot cameos for Confessions. Written by Charlie Kaufman, who also wrote Being John Malkovich, the quirky comedy is based on the wacky autobiography of Gong Show host Chuck Barris. The game-show impresario claimed in the book that his TV job was a front for his real gig as a government assassin. Rockwell - who played the villain in Charlie's Angels - plays Barris. Clooney plays the CIA agent who recruits Barris.

Julia Strikes Again)

Last Monday, the 14th, in Pasadena, California, Julia took home her eight favourite actress award at the 28th annual People's Choice Awards. She arrived alone, the blonde look gone and replaced with a red look which she said she dyed her hair red in the sink the night before to get ready for the awards. She arrived alone, owning the red carpet in a backless suit, looking ravishing as usual. As she accepted the award she thanked the directors and costars of her two winning movies 'The Mexican' and 'America's Sweethearts', and also her family, who she said 'make me feel, being as strange as I am, is a good thing'. She also thanked the people for going to the movies.

Julia most intriguing
She's done it again. People magazine this week made their list of the most intriguing people of 2001 official. And Julia together with Madonna, David Letterman and Prince Harry amongst others made the cut. This is what they wrote about her;

JULIA ROBERTS The girl who has (almost) everything. In October, at her 34th-birthday bash in Malibu, Julia Roberts celebrated a banner year surrounded by glamorous men. George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon, her Ocean's Eleven costars, were on hand, as was chef Wolfgang Puck with a wickedly rich chocolate cake. But Roberts's unofficial guest of honor was a low-key cameraman -- her latest love, Danny Moder, 32. "They were very affectionate," said one attendee. "They looked very much the couple." Such is life for America's most sought-after actress. Another birthday. Another beau. And yet another hint that Roberts is one complicated equation. This year she added an Oscar plus eight more awards (for Erin Brockovich), subtracted a relationship (Benjamin Bratt) and increased her nest egg with three 2001 releases -- The Mexican, America's Sweethearts and Ocean's Eleven. "She's one of a kind," pronounced Italian designer Valentino when Roberts wore his vintage 1982 dress to the Oscars in March. Whether traveling the red carpet accepting honors or donating $2 million to Sept. 11 relief funds, the actress showed the world a new definition of movie star this year. "Julia is not manufactured," says producer Howard Rosenman, a friend since the 1980s. "She is authentic and warm and doesn't mask her foibles. She's a real gal." One who relishes the journey perhaps more than the destination. It's "too tedious," she told In Style in March when pressed on why she hasn't settled down. "Where's the pizzazz?"

Julia, Our Faveorite Non-Working Star
That Julia Roberts - boy, is she hot. Won the Oscar. Helped Ocean's Eleven open number 1 a couple weeks ago. Now, if she'd only stop making movies - boy, then she'd be really hot. Say what? Well, we're just trying to digest the latest Harris Poll that tracks our nation's favorite movie stars as determined by our nation's presumed moviegoers. According to the poll, out today, eight of our most popular actors didn't have a single fresh release in theaters in 2001. One member of the top 10, in fact, is dead. Way dead. All righty, then. Now, to be fair, Roberts was the list's notable exception. Oscar's reigning Best Actress appeared in three hit 2001 titles--America's Sweethearts, The Mexican and the aforementioned Ocean's Eleven. That stat not only didn't disqualify her from consideration by Harris Poll voters, it perhaps even helped her capture the number one spot. The 34-year-old Roberts, who ranked number four in the 2000 poll, is the first woman to top the list since Harris began tracking such things in 1993. Roberts was the top choice among women and Hispanic voters. She also was the top choice, along with Harrison Ford (number three overall), among the 18-29 set.

Julia Roberts hosts 'Old Friends'
"Ocean's Eleven'' star Julia Roberts is concentrating on friendships. Roberts will be the host of the A&E documentary "Old Friends,'' which examines the enduring nature of friendships. It's scheduled for broadcast next year. "Old Friends'' focuses on three women from a small town outside Chicago. Mildred Mulligan, Helen Klipinger and Ann Pritchard met in elementary school in 1906. Now, 95 years later, they remain good friends. Mulligan and Klipinger live in a retirement community in West Covina, where the three women celebrated Klipinger's 103rd birthday. The event was filmed for the documentary. The documentary, now in production, also includes interviews with individuals of all ages and varying backgrounds about what it means to be a friend. "Old Friends'' hopes to capture the art of friendship, as well as the essence of growing up in America, A&E said. "Old Friends'' is produced by Revolution Studios and Roberts' Shoelace Productions.

'Ocean's' Cast Over Seas

It's a GOOD MORNING for us back in L.A. after the whirlwind weekend of Kennedy Center Honors and an equally busy week in Gotham. Today is also a good morning for "Ocean's 12" -- that's right, "12." Jerry Weintraub arrived back in town Monday night after the star-studded cast winged to Turkey to preem the pic for our troops stationed at a giant airbase there. They followed with a stop in London for press, then on to Rome and N.Y. After that, George Clooney headed to Canada to direct "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind," in which his "Eleven" costar Julia Roberts will cameo. "Ocean's" cast performed magnificently for the troops, Jerry reports. They arrived at the Incirlik base at 3 a.m. and "went to work at 7 -- handshaking, everyone, visiting schools and hospitals on the base. They were incredible. They told the troops, 'Don't thank us; we thank you.' Nobody complained about anything -- they worked in the pouring rain. At the autograph session, they didn't quit until everyone received one." In London they appeared before a packed press group at the Dorchester, and in Rome ditto at the Grand where Monday morning Jerry received a fax of Monday's Daily Variety front page with the headline "Rat Pack Blackjack," noting the pic's record-breaking three-day opening. At the stop in N.Y. for refueling and customs, Andy Garcia headed to the Letterman show. Weintraub said, "I'm gong to look back on this as the most worthwhile experience." P.S. he has further plans to promote the pic: On Wednesday, he films a commercial.

Julia Roberts hints at Wedding Bells...
The world's highest paid actress Julia Roberts has fueled rumors that she will marry her new boyfriend Danny Moder at a star studded party in Dublin. Over the weekend the actress secretly jetted into Dublin to introduce him to the Irish chauffeur Mick Devine, one of the stars closest friends who took her under his wing in 1990 when she split with Keifer Sutherland during a fight in The Shelbourne Hotel. Devine has been like a father to Roberts and flying in to introduce him to her new boyfriend must mean that the relationship is getting very serious a friend of the actress told ShowBizIreland.com. Roberts (34) flew into Dublin airport on Friday night on her private jet from Turkey where she was working on her latest film. However, instead of staying in the any of the city's top hotels the humble star, who gets paid $20 million dollars a film, stayed in Mick's modest house in the middle of a housing estate in Palmerstown, West Dublin. At the party in Lillies, Julia, who is now sporting a new short blond bob hairstyle, slow danced to with Danny, while the singer Ronan Keating (who was at the party with his wife Yvonne) sang the Fairytale of New York, as the Eurovision winner Paul Harrington played piano. Julia left for bed just before 4am but the party raged on until the early hours. Guests of Ronnie Wood, the world famous Rolling Stone, included the guitarist Slash from Guns n Roses, who had joined Wood on stage earlier for his sell out show in Dublin's Vicar Street. Other guests included Vinnie Jones and his wife Tanya, Lea and Jess Wood, Ron's children and his wife Jo, Aiden Quinn, Neil Jordan, John Hurt, Marianne Faithful and Gerry Ryan.
