Sample Heading 1
Read through Romans 3. Do you think at times that you are better than someone else because you are a “good” person, because you do what the Bible says and you don’t intentionally do “bad things?” Do you know what the Bible says about being good? In Romans 3:12b it states “there is no one who does good, not even one.” Did you hear that? NO ONE!!! What will happen to those of us who thrive on being a good person when we really let it sink in that God says NO ONE is good!!!!! You, in and of yourself are not a good person!!! In fact, in that same verse Romans 3:12 God says, “all have turned away, they have together become worthless.” God ways that we are worthless!!!! What in the world!? God is suppose to be kind and loving and here it ways that we are worthless. Huh, gives us something to think about doesn’t it!? Only through the Holy Spirit can we even be good. We will never be good on our own because when we break even just one of God’s laws we become a sinner and guilty of breaking the law. Therefore “it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this not from yourself it is the gift of God not by works so that no one can boast.” How does our sin increase God’s glory? If our sin increases God’s glory why are we still condemned to hell? Yes God always brings good from bad. Do you have an exampls of this? Do you ever think “well, it is okay to sin because God will forgive me? They were saying this very same thing back in Paul’s time. Write out Romans 3:8b starting with the quote: “Their condemnation is deserved.” Why is this? What is wrong about doing wrong so that good may result? In verse 9, Paul compares Jews vs. Gentiles. I think that a fair comparison today would be Christians vs. Non-Christians. I am not talking about Christians as being a relationship to God and saved, but rather Christianity as a culture. Example: someone who grew up in a Christian home but has not made the decision to accept God for themselves. There is no difference between the Christian culture and the non-Christian culture. We are all under sin!!! Read Romans 3:10-18 How does this make you feel about yourself? Does this change your thinking? If so, how? How does the law make us conscience of sin? If no one is righteous, yet we learned that only those who have faith and obey the law are righteous, how do we come to have faith? And why do we obey the law when we will always break it? How does the law testify about Jesus? Vs. 21 How was Christ righteous? How, then, are we justified? Vs. 24 Jesus could have said, “I was perfect and I am not going to share that with you.” He could have rightfully chosen to keep it all to himself, but he did not. He chose to let us be co-heirs with him of God’s kingdom. (Romans 8:17). God has given us two chances. Adam and Eve sinned, therefore we all sin and are slaves and bound to Satan because there is no way for us to be perfect. God is not above and beyond his own law he followed it. Just as animal blood was the sacrifice needed to forgive sin, and there would never be enough blood because humans were constantly sinning, “God presented (Christ) him as a sacrifice of atonement.” God was even kind; He did not condemn people to hell who died before Christ died. He waited to judge until Christ’s blood was shed to show that He is a God of justice and mercy, not a “get what you deserve” kind of God. Someone else, Jesus, took the penalty for our sins for everyone, for all of time. Do you have any right then to boast that you are better or more righteous than anyone else? According to verse 31 Paul says, “we uphold the law.” If we are justified by faith alone and not by observing the law, why do we uphold it?
