*Things still to be resolved in book 7:
SPOILER WARNING...
1. What is the full meaning of the veil in the Department of Mysteries?
Personally, I think the veil will be irrelevent in future books. J.K. Rowling just used it as a device for death. You know, Sirius crossed through the veil. However, if it is important, it probably will have something to do with death. Maybe Harry dies and we follow him there. This veil has everything to do with death because that's probably what Harry and Luna heard from the veil, voices of people who have passed.
2. Will Harry ever use the mirror Sirius gave him in OotP?
It may be possible to communicate with the dead through this mirror. If Harry can, could he talk to Sirius, Dumbledore, or even his parents? That could definitely come in handy in book 7.
3. What happened to Ludo Bagman? Did he just disappear off the face of the earth?
It's kind of weird we haven't heard from him. Hey, but now that Harry is off on his own, and if Ludo is still on the run, they could very well meet up again in Harry's next, Hogwarts-less adventure.
4. What will happen to Bill after he was bitten by Greyback?
Well, Lupin said he wouldn't become a full werewolf, but can we be sure? Let's hope so for the sake of Bill and Phlegm.
5. Who has the initial R.A.B.? And why did he steal Voldemort's Horcrux?
Is R.A.B. Regulas Black? Maybe Regulas wasn't the little weakling Sirius made him out to be. Is he even dead I wonder, or is it really him singing in the band in The Quibbler? I want to know!
6. Where's Fawkes now?
Fawkes could return and help Harry later. A thought spurred me deep down inside. What if someone put part of their soul inside a Phoenix? Phoenix's can't die, so the Horcrux couldn't be destroyed could it? Maybe it wasn't Godric Gryffindor's sword Tom Riddle was after after all.
7. What is the significance of Harry's eye color?
I believe this means that Harry has his mother's kindness. I mean really, what else could it possibly mean?
8. And will we ever even find out more about his mother? Or his father for that matter?
God, I really really hope we do. However, since Harry is finally visiting Godric's Hollow and his parent's graves, it finally sounds like we are in book 7.
9. Who uses magic late in life who appears they can't?
Honestly, I have no guesses what so ever. Actually I'm still guessing Petunia.
When thinking about the person who uses magic late in life when it appears that they can't, I couldn't help thinking of the squibs: Argus Filch and Arabella Figg.
-Alex at ftmftm@hotmail.co.uk
The more I thought about this personally, the more I think it was probably Merope Gaunt J.K. Rowling was talking about.
10. Will we learn more about Petunia Dursley's knowledge of magic?
I think something will happen at the Dursley's next summer. Something big. How else are we going to find out more about Petunia or what Dudley saw from the dementor.
11. What about Snape's true allegiance? Is his killing enough to prove his allegiance?
I'm still not so sure, but he looks evil doesn't he. What if when he walked up to Dumbledore he used Legilmency (I don't think I spelled that right) to tell Snape to kill him? If Dumbledore knew that he, himself, must die so Harry could kill Voldemort then it was necessary. Why he had Snape do it though is beyond me; maybe to protect the insecure Draco? And Snape sure didn't hesitate did he?
12. What about Snape's childhood?
I want to know more about his abusive family.
13. Is Snape a vampire?
I believe the answer is no. You know, she still can't help putting bat and death references to the fellow though. It makes me wonder.
14. When will we learn that the bar tender of the Hog's Head is Dumbledore's brother? And what significance will this have to Harry?
I thought we would figure this out in The Half-Blood Prince. I mean the guy was everywhere in this book. He was apparently helping Mundungus steal Sirius's stuff, he was with Snape the night he stole part of the prophesy, and he was also at Albus Dumbledore's funeral. Yet, we still don't know the significance of him! He must be important to save him for the last book.
15. Are the centaurs tame now that they were at the funeral?
I thought they didn't like Dumbledore, why were they at the funeral?
16. We still don't know much about house elf magic and how it works.
If house elves play a big role in book 7, we better know more!
17. Peter Pettigrew still has a certain debt to repay.
Yes he does. What the significance of this repayment is yet to be seen.
18. Has Percy made up with his family or what?
I'm not convinced he has given that Ron still held a grudge toward him at the end of the book.
19. How exactly did Fred and George know that Ireland would win but Bulgaria would catch the golden snitch in the World Cup Tournament?
I think it has something to do with time travel read my theory on rumor page 2.
20. By the way, will Krum pop up again somewhere?
I'm guessing if that Ron and Hermione are hooking up, he's bound to show up and complicate things.
21. And what about the Weasley's car? J.K. Rowling has said it would come back a long time ago.
I think if it was going to show up it would of in book 6.
22. What exactly did Dudley see when he was almost kissed by the dementor?
Only God and J.K. Rowling know.
23. Why did Dumbledore have a look of triumph?
It might of had something to do with something in Harry's blood. I have no clue. Anybody can stir about that one and come up with something I'm sure.
24. And last but not least, why did Sirius have to die?
I think she had to kill every single one of Harry's protectors to get to where he can kill Voldemort. Just like Harry said in the final chapter in The Half-Blood Prince, he is on his own now.
"And Harry saw very clearly as he sat there under the hot sun how people who cared about him had stood in front of him one by one, his mother, his father, his godfather, and finally Dumbledore, all determined to protect him; but now that was over. He could not let anybody else stand between him and Voldemort; he must abandon forever the illusion he ought to have lost at the age of one, that the shelter of a parent's arms meant that nothing could hurt him. There was no waking from his nightmare, no comforting whisper in the dark that he was safe really, that it was all in his imagination; the last and greatest of his protectors had died, and he was more alone than he had ever been before."
That's all I can think of right now. I'll put them up as soon as I can think of them.

Horcruxes
Why is Voldemort so insistent that Harry not be killed by the death eaters? Possibly because Harry is one of Voldemort's Horcrux?
-marian at wxmaid@comcast.net
On the "Harry is a Horcrux" issue:
I firmly believe this to be the case, but it is entirely possble that Voldemort doesn't KNOW that Harry is a horcrux, since it is entirely possible that he never INTENDED to make harry one, but some other item he had with him at the time. Dumbledore said:
"He believed he was making himself invincible. I am sure that he was intending to make his final Horcrux with your death."
He then goes on to say "As we know, he failed."
...Or DID he?
Whatever spell Voldie uses to create a horcrux may have been interfered with at the critical moment. In actual fact, Harry may have, indeed, died from the Arva Kedarva, but the fragment of Voldie's soul that was intended to create the sixth horcrux may have somehow gotten misdirected and was absorbed by Harry, reviving him.
We have been given clue after clue about this...Harry's "mental link" to Voldemort, his inheritance of the Parselmouth ability, and so on...all of them point to the probability that a piece o

Snape's Allegiance
I feel that Snape is not evil because if you see in book 4 Dumbledore asks Snape to do something which may put Snape's and possibly Dumbledore's life in danger. I think Dumbledore would have told Snape to keep giving secret info about Voldemort to the OOTP EVEN IF IT INVOLVES DOING THINGS EVIL
-HARI KRISHNA harispin04@yahoo.co.in
-I think that snape is actually on dumbledore's side but to convince voldemort and his supporters that he is on their side and get crucial info that is the key to destroying for good, he has to talk evil of dumbledore. he proves it by making the vow with draco to show that he is a faithful supporter. he tries to stop draco's plan but fails and ends up killing D. the hatred etched on his face could be towards Voldemort and himself for being trapped in a position to kill the only wizard who saw the best in him. i think snape's a crucial character.

All You Need Is Love?-
Could it be possible that Harry could have another *enchantment* put on him like his mother did when he was a baby. You know, the love conquers all evil thing. It worked the first time to get rid of Voldemort, why not again?
And what about this? More people love Harry now: Ron, Hermione, Hagrid, Sirius, Lupin, Dumbledore, and Dobby all seem to in their own way (or did, in Sirius's case). I wonder, did Lily put the spell on Harry intentionally? Could Harry all ready have a pretection over him now, now that so many people love him? If Voldemort tried to kill Harry again, would it still work? Would Voldemort die again? Is this what Dumbledore ment when he said, "Voldemort doesn't understand love?"
There are some bad hooks that come with this rumor however. If Harry can be saved by his mother's love why didn't the other people who were murdered get saved by their loved ones (husbands, wives, sons, daughters, etc.). Maybe you have to be there for the spell to work? Or maybe, Harry is very special that he understands love? Dumbledore says Harry has something Voldemort does not, is it love?
discussion thread I put up at:

I pretty sure this theory is false. Here's excerpt from MuggleNet and The Leaky Cauldron's most recent interview with J.K. Rowling:
"ES: This is one of my burning questions since the third book - why did Voldemort offer Lily so many chances to live? Would he actually have let her live?
JKR: Mmhm.
ES: Why?
JKR: [silence] Can't tell you. But he did offer, you're absolutely right. Don't you want to ask me why James's death didn't protect Lily and Harry? Theres your answer, you've just answered your own question, because she could have lived and chose to die. James was going to be killed anyway. Do you see what I mean? Im not saying James wasn't ready to; he died trying to protect his family but he was going to be murdered anyway. He had no - he wasn't given a choice, so he rushed into it in a kind of animal way, I think there are distinctions in courage. James was immensely brave. But the caliber of Lily's bravery was, I think in this instance, higher because she could have saved herself. Now any mother, any normal mother would have done what Lily did. So in that sense her courage too was of an animal quality but she was given time to choose. James wasn't. It's like an intruder entering your house, isn't it? You would instinctively rush them. But if in cold blood you were told, "Get out of the way," you know, what would you do? I mean, I don't think any mother would stand aside from their child. But does that answer it? She did very consciously lay down her life. She had a clear choice -
ES: And James didn't.
JKR: Did he clearly die to try and protect Harry specifically given a clear choice? No. It's a subtle distinction and there's slightly more to it than that but that's most of the answer.
MA: Did she know anything about the possible effect of standing in front of Harry?
JKR: No - because as I've tried to make clear in the series, it never happened before. No one ever survived before. And no one, therefore, knew that could happen.
MA: So no one - Voldemort or anyone using Avada Kedavra - ever gave someone a choice and then they took that option [to die] -
JKR: They may have been given a choice, but not in that particular way."

That pretty much proves this theory is false. Harry's world relies heavily on choices. Lily was given a choice and this choice led to Harry's survival. If someone else was given this choice to protect Harry, then it could happen again, but not likely.
Podmore Ancestry-
In book 5 there was a man named Sturgis Podmore who was in the Order. Later in The Order of The Phoenix, he was put in Azkaban for trying to break into the prophecy room. Anyway, I was reading through book 2 again, and on page 124, N.-Headless Nick got a letter telling him he couldn't participate in the Nearly Headless Hunt, which happened to be signed by a ghost named Sir Patrick Delany-Podmore. After reading this, Nick calls him "Sir Properly Decapitated Podmore." Could Sturgis be his distant descendant? Probably unimportant, but it's an odd connection. Though it may become into text again because we know how much your "ancestry" means in J.K.R.'s world.
note-I originally submitted this to Crazy4Potter. But now it's back where it belongs!
I wonder what happened to Sturgis? Is he still in Azkaban, or was he cleared of all charges after The Order of the Phoenix?
Dursleys' into pigs?-
You know how Dudley was almost turned into a pig? Wouldn't that be cool if it happened for real? Maybe that's why Harry leaves, the Dursleys are turned into pigs. Anyways, it seems like something J.K. Rowling might do.
I think it's a great theory, really. Has anyone seen Spirited Away? Probably not, however the little girl's parents get turned into pigs because they act like pigs, you know? The Dursley's act like pigs so they get turned into pigs. It might be possible that Dudley getting a pig tail was foreshadowing or and in joke to a future event. That does make me wonder whether Dudley went to St. Mungos to get the tail off, but that's something different and off-topic.

Dumbledore/Phoenix-
I love the theory that Dumbledore is somehow related to the phoenixes. He is a great Gryffindor (the best) and has a few weird affinities with the flaming hawks. I just have this great image of Dumbledore apparently being killed then being burst from his dead body's ashes alive and well.
This brings up a good point. When Aslan died in Narnia, he came back, didn't he? When Gandalf died in The Lord of Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring he came back, didn't he? Plus you got all his Phoenix craziness with Fawkes, who can't die! We could very well see Dumbledore again.
Sirius isn't dead?-
Sirius is not dead. When Sirius is dueling he gets stunned and falls behind the veil! This leads me to believe that he is just elsewhere for the time being.
-Matt
*If anything, people not excepting Sirius's death is a great testament to J.K. Rowling's story writing abilities. The first stage of grief is denial, you know? It's like people are trying to except a real death. Anyway, J.K.R. has teased with us so much I think she may have caused this denial herself. That's not bad, it's just true.
I was thinking about this denial thing because we're learning about this in Health. There is something called a delayed grief response. This is where you put off the death of a loved one for later. I think that's what could happen to alot of HP fans when they finally realize Sirius is, in fact, dead.
*It is possible for Sirius not to be dead. I think that Harry should've looked in that mirror he got from Sirius, but Harry misteriously forgets about it. We must remember that he used every single thing he had. Like in book 4, he gets that knife and he uses it just in the 5th book. I think that mirror hasn't finished its role. Sirius is alive!!!!
-Victor
*Okay, first of all, I need to get one thing across to you guys:
JK Rowling has specifically said that SIRIUS IS DEAD. HE WILL NOT COME BACK. Also, didn't Harry mess with the mirror after Sirius died? I thought that J.K. Rowling made it quite clear in the books--purposely, because she knew this would happen--that Sirius was GONE. I remember something along the lines of 'when you're dead, you're dead. There is not coming back'. this might have been from a book, but to me she made it perfectly clear. Which leads me to say that DUMBLEDORE WILL ALSO NOT COME BACK. thank you.

-I really think Sirius is dead because he wasn't stunned, he was slashed across the chest with a spell with a look of fearful surprise on his face. If you rememeber Hermione was slashed across the chest too, but not full force, and it took her awhile to recover.
