Why I Made This Site
I made this site...cuz... I wanna share my knowledge. As weird as it seems, I have four hamsters and I want everyone to know how to take care of hamsters (and how to breed them). My hamster Rosie is pregnant for the second time. Sparkie is one of my other hamsters, he is the one who got Rosie pregnant both times. My other two hamsters, Stripes and Muffin are from the first pregnancy. The first pregnancy went something like this: Rosie became pregnant November 11, 2004 and gave birth to 10 hamsters (only two of which I kept, the rest went to good homes) and gave birth December 1, 2004.

Breeding Hamsters
When breeding hamsters be careful. If the female hamster does not want to breed then the male will kill her. It is alot less dangerous then it seems. Also remember that the mom can have as many babys as 3-14 so before you breed your hamsters make sure you have something to do with the babys (give them to a friend, a pet store...) Before you breed your hamsters find a glove and put it on in case you have to seperate them. Then find a big empty relativly clean box that the hamsters can't get out of and put the male and female in it. The female will go into a corner and the male will go on her and vibrate (enough said). This my go on for an hour or 15 minutes either way don't interupt them. If this does not happen and they fight, split them up fast and try again tommorow.

March 29, 2005 Rosie has her babies

Info
March 29, 2005: Rosie, my hamster, has had her babies. At this stage I can not see how many there are. I can not touch her babies or else she will smell my sent and eat her babies. It looks as though there are 6 or 7 of them. I can only touch them after they are five weeks old(that is when you seperate the boys the girls and the mother from each other in to different cages). The babies can not see and can barley walk(when they walk they fall over and appear very tired afterwards). They can squeak. The babies can not open their eye lids. March 30, 2005: I can now see that there are 9 babies and they are starting to get colour on there backs (black spots). March 31, 2005: The hamster's ears are sticking out of there heads rather then being not visible. Also the babies have developed whiskers. April 1: The baby’s noses are now much more visible and the spots on their backs are getting darker. April 2: The babies are alot bigger( about 2cm / 1inch). Their skin is becoming tighter and they are looking more like hamsters. April 4:The babies have a thin layer of dark hair. They are almost two inches long and their tails are longer and their teeth are bigger. They appear to have more strighth then before and their whiskers are thiker. Also they are squeeking alot more often.April 8: Their fingers and ears are more seprate and devolped. They are larger, have more and darker hair and are walking a little bit. April 9: They are walking alot mor then before and are stronger. They have more hair thiner ears and their eyes are almost open. They eat food but mostly milk from their mom. April 11: Some of the babies can open their eyes. They are very strong and walk alot. They have lots of hair. April 16: Their ears are sticking out of their head and their eyes are bulgy. They can walk and climb and are getting bigger

I now know from experience that hamsters can barley walk when they are born. That if there is blood not to be worried. When they are: One - two days old you will notice a small bit of colour on their backs (like a patch of light black). Two - Three days old you will notice that their eaars will stick out of their heads and they will grow whiskers. Three - four days old you will notice their noses are more developed then when they were born. Four - Five days old they will be about 2cm/1inch and they will start looking more like a hamster. And that under no surcumstance can you touch the babies before they are five week old at all (and not to even clean out their cage) or the mom will eat them. The hamsters should be kept in a quiet dark place where they will be undesterbed.
