Some people believe that Halloween celebrates evil and should be banned. Just the opposite is ture!
"Halloween" is short form of the words "All Hallows' Evening." Hallow means "holy," as in the words "Hallowed be thy name..."So halloween means "The evening befor All Holy Ones' Day," or the Feast of All Saints. Many Christians celebrate this on Nov. 1.
During the Middle Ages, European Christians would gather in churches on this night for worship. They would recall the saints; victories over evil. At some of these services the churches would put on little plays in which they acted ou jesus' victory over Satan and his forces. The actors wore unusual costumes.
so...When christian celebrate halloween we really recalling that jesus has defeated evil by his death and resurrection. We remind ourselves that with FAITH and GRACE we can too. Happy Halloween!!!
