Final Fantasy V Walkthrough:

(Not Completed)

Final Fantasy V is a very nice game, one which I am yet to complete, so my walkthrough is only somewhat finished.

1: The Start Of The Game:

You will see a scene where the king of Tycoon leaves to protect the Wind crystal, and a meteor falls near where our hero resides. You, the hero, should now go to the meteor site and you will see a girl and an old man. The girl is named Reina, and the Old Man is named Galuf. The old man has lost his memory because the meteor struck. They both want to go to the wind shrine, and your character, which you have named at this point, decideds not to go. But then your character will soon see that they need help, and he and his chocobo will run to rescue them, and now that they are all back together in a party, you have a chance to save on the world map before you go into a cave. This cave really isn't too long or confusing, and it will lead you to a pirate ship which you must then sneak on. 2: The Wind Shrine

After you sneak on and get caught and chained up, the captain Faris is still going to go to the wind shrine. You can choose to control the ship there, or let the game go there for you. It really isn't too hard to get there either way. You will now have four characters in your party. Save before you enter the Wind Shrine. As you enter the Wind Shrine, you go in to discover that the king of Tycoon has not yet returned from the Crystal room. You must walk up the Shrine, and the monsters you will fight here are very easy. When you get to the top floor, you will have to fight the first boss of Final Fantasy V, and also the easiest boss. After you win, the King will float up and talk to the party, and the crystal will shatter. The crystal will have shards to give to the party, which will give them the power of 6 different "jobs". Jobs are different character types, each with different abilites. At this point you can give your characters "jobs", and I would suggest having it like this: One Knight, One Black Mage, One White Mage, One Monk. A thief could be good, but I find a Monk is a great asset to your team, as a Monk's fists do more damage than most weapons do. 3: The First True Town:

The only place your ship can even go is a little town by the shore, so I think you know where you are gonna go. The town has a few new weapons, and some spells you want to buy. The white (curing) spells will be more useful than the black (attacking) spells at this point in the game. But you still want to get all the spells you can. After buying all that you need, go to the house in the back of town. The person there will recgonize Princess Reina. Yes, she is a princess! And you guys need a key and the guy has lost it. Well, when you go to sleep, your charatcer will wake up in the middle of the night, have a flashback, and the guy will give you the key. He had hidden it to protect Reina.

4. The Ship Graveyard:

Ok, so you have the key. So head to that little waterway, and watch as the party is shocked that you are able to open the door. You will have a tough boss fight, and this boss is weak against Bolt, so use Bolt with your Black Wizard. He won't be too tough, especially if you use Bolt. When he dies, things won't get better, as your party gets sucked down into the Ship Graveyard, which is full of Zombies and Skeletons and the like. It's not too confusing, but it will take awhile, and you have to fight another boss. This one will have a memory of a person drag every character to drain their souls, except for Galuf, who has lost his memory, and he saves the party and they prepare for another battle. This is with Siren, an undead creature that looks like a human female. When it turns undead, fire spells work better, and the Cure spell does damage, but you can't get a cheap shot with a Phoenix Down like in FFIII on the Ghost Train. After you defeat Siren, you end up on a new island.

5. To The Mountains:

You are now on a new island, and the monsters are tougher than before. But there is a new town nearby. Gain a level and head up the mountains to the east. The mountains are not too challenging. Make sure you have plenty of items from the town stocked up. Once you get to the boss, make sure you use the spell Protes on everyone and also use Antdot because this boss can and will poison your party. Once you have defeated the boss, you will meet a dragon that needs healing and the plant that can heal it is beyond some poison-inducing flowers. Reina goes through these flowers and gets the plant for the dragon, and the dragon removes the poison from her. You can now fly the dragon, but it can't be flown over any mountains. Head to the castle to the South.

6. Walz Castle:

You can walk into Walz Castle and Walz Town. You should buy items and weapons in the new town of course, as you always should. Do NOT go into the basement of Walz Castle. It is filled with tough monsters called Harpies that WILL kill you with one hit! Talk to the king, and then a meteor will land nearby, and you will hear that there is danger of the water crystal breaking and you should rush on your dragon and head to the water shrine. Walk into the water shrine right away. There are some monsters to fight and some treasures to find, but it is not a challenging path. The boss is what is challenging. Ganesha has some powerful attacks like trample, and it is best that you use Protes on all your characters. With Protes on, my Knight did not even get damaged by the attacks on him! Keep battling and curing, using your best attacks. If your knight has gotten the 2-handed sword ability yet, then use it. It doubles your damage but you can't use a shield. Once you defeat Ganehsa, the crystal will shatter anyway, and now the land area near the shrine will fall underwater and your dragon will bring you to safety. Now you must walk into the meteor and the warp spot on the meteor will bring you to a new area! 7. Firey Town:

When you warp, you will end up on another meteor. Walk out of the meteor. You will find that the next town is quite a long walk. The dog monsters in the forest are VERY easy to kill. Once you get to the next town, which is quite far away, walk into the weapon shop. You will be caught and jailed because they thought you were monsters that walked out of the meteor. They are very paranoid of these monsters. You will find Professor Cid has also been jailed. Professor Cid is a very intelligent man. He will accidentally blow a hole in the wall between your jails and you can walk to him. You will be able to get out when someone discovers that Cid was jailed. The fire crystal may crack soon, and of course Cid tries to shut down what is relying on the fire, but it doesn't work because the fire ship is still running. So you must destroy the fire ship!

8. The Fire Ship:

The Fire Ship may prove difficult, so be prepared when it comes to buying the right items, such as Tents and Tonics. Also make sure you have the Ice 2 spell, as the boss will need to be cooled off today. Some of the monsters will prove difficult, and I would suggest having a Level 2 Knight with the 2-handed sword option because it will double his damage just to sacrifise a small part of his defense from not being able to wear a shield. The Fire Ship is quite confusing, like a maze. But here's one tip that will help a bit. When you are in a room with 8 doors, the 2nd bottom one is the one to go to. You will soon get to a room full of switches which you have to press. This isn't too hard once you get the hang of it, and you will see the queen has been possessed by an evil monster. It's a fire monster, so cool it off with Ice 2 spells right away. It won't take too long with Ice 2, and soon it will die. The Fire Crystal will shatter, and you guys will be warped to the basement of the castle with 10 minutes to escape before it explodes. You need...well, about 1 and a half minutes to get out of there. So there's really no actual rush. And now since the castle is destroyed, you can travel to more areas. Cid has become depressed because of this. 9. To The Ancient Library:

Start going to the west, where the wall blocked you from going before. Make sure you have a good party, meaning that your characters are around Level 13 or 14 right now. The place to go is a shrine to the south. It will take a little while to walk there, but not a really long time. Make sure you bring plenty of Tents, as you will need them. Also make sure you have the Raise spell. When you make it to the Library, you will hear stuff about Mid from the people there. Walk in to the highest floor, and talk to people there. You will have to fight a book. Yes, you fight posssesed books. Now you can head to a basement, where it is rumored Mid has gone. There are quite a few swithces in this place, and all the monsters you will fight are books. Make sure you are healed before walking in here. After some travelling, you will find Ifrit. Ifrit is a familliar name for FF6 fans. And in this game he is a Summon spell. When you defeat him, which will be easy enough with Ice 2 spells, you will get the ability to summon him. Now, you will soon see Mid, who is reading books, and then the monster Byblos will come out and attack you. This shouldn't be a long fight. Bring a Fire Rod with you and hit him with it. Ifrit will also be of use, not to mention the Fire 2 spell. Soon, after killing Byblos, you will meet Mid, who is related to Cid. Mid has found a book that has a way to repower the fire ship, and wants Cid, his grandfather, to help. Your party informs Mid of Cid's recent depression. Now you must travel back to that Fire Town to talk to Cid. Mid will get Cid to give it one last try, and he and Mid use Mid's new idea to repower the Fire Ship, and you get to control it, in search for the Earth Crystal!

10. Jachor: (optional)

Send the ship down south for awhile and you will get to a little valley area. Get off here and walk west. You will soon see a town. This is Jachor, and Jachor has some great weapons for you to buy. You probably don't have the money to buy all of them, but you should fight the monsters around town to get enough money to buy them. After you are well stocked, go to the cave to the east. The monsters are mostly Nut Eaters, but it is impossible to kill the Skull Eaters so run when you see one. You will find some cool treasures in here, but you don't actually have to go to this place. You could just skip this part 10. Well, there's one place you do need to go. Cresent Island.

11. Land To The North (optional)

Head North from Jachol on your ship, and after some travelling you will find a new area of land with a small town. There is really no big reason to be here, except that Ramuh is in these forests and it's the best place to gain levels that you can go to right now. Find Ramuh, kill him, get the Summon for him, and now you should go to Cresent Island.

12. Cresent Island:

Right before you are able to land your ship, an earthquake causes your ship to go underwater but you are able to get on the island. Go into the town and see if you want to buy anything. There is not too much to do here, except to head south into the Chocobo Forest, where you find a Black Chocobo that can fly! Fly to the forests near the Ancient Library and walk in. You will find Cid and Mid and they tell you to go to this desert. The desert is just a short walk away from the Library, but a challenging desert it will be. First you must defeat an Sandworm at the entrance which will be a tough battle. That will make a bridge and you must then go in the maze of the desert. The maze itself is not all that complicated, just make sure that you are healed up and have a white or red mage in the party to cast curative spells. After you go through this maze you
