The Pacific Coast Travelers
Association, "PCT", has a long
and distinguished history of
producing successful Apparel
and Accessories Trade Shows,
in Los Angeles, at various
locations, for more than
sixty years! These shows,
known as "The L. A. Market",
have, consistantly drawn
retailers, both large and
small, from many diverse
places, inside and outside,
of California, and The U. S.!
Los Angeles has long been
favored by Buyers, for the
many Lines that they can see
here, for its delightful
Weather, its many Amusements
and Attractions. It has been
called the "Sportswear Capitol
of the World"!
Although devoted to promoting
PCT Members, and their Lines,
PCT exists, principally, to
provide a conducive Atmosphere
and Venue, for Retail Buyers
to congregate, in one central
place, to see Lines and to
Order Merchandise!
Voting membership in PCT is
open to Independent Apparel
and Accessories Sales
Representives, as well as
Representatives of related
products and services. A
General Membership is available
to many Manufacturers, Jobbers,
and Importers. All Members must
be of high character, and
adhere to the Association's
rules of ethics and conduct,
especially during its Shows!
In other words, membership in
PCT, is deemed by its members,
to be a Privilege!
RECENT HISTORY
In 1983, PCT relocated its Show,
to the CaliforniaMART, in the
heart of Los Angeles' Garment
District. This move eliminated
the need for Buyers to travel
around to various parts of The
City, to see Lines. Needless to
say, many Buyers were very
enthusiastic about this aspect
of the move! While some Buyers,
initially, missed the intimacy
and convenience of the hotel
show, many of these soon came
to appreciate the advantages
that the new venue offered!
The results were dramatic! The
shows were Fun and Productive
for everyone who attended, just
as they had been before, and
the "partnership" between PCT
and The Mart, worked quite well.
The nightly "Cocktail Parties",
Special Entertainment Events,
Daily Fashion Shows, and very
popular Buyers Seminars, had
Buyers looking forward to each
successive L.A. Market Week!
Los Angeles is an important,
International "Gateway", for
Fashion Resources, World-Wide!
Retailers from throughout The
United States, the Americas,
Asia, and from countries all
over the World, often begin
their buying trips, in The
States by visiting L. A.!!
A number of our members,
maintain their CaliforniaMart
Showrooms on a year-round
basis. Many of the others,
are here for every Market
Week, even though they're
headquartered in another
City or in another State.
Together, We represent a
significant number of the
most important Lines,
World-wide!
