La Coruna (A Coruna/Corunna), a medium-sized busy port city on the Atlantic coast in northwest Spain, is the gateway to Santiago de Compostela, the noted pilgrimage center which is the burial site of St. James with its magnificent Romanesque cathedral. Santiago is the terminus of the 550-mile pilgrimage path called Camino de Santiago.
