Dale Earnhardt, NASCAR sensation, died from head trauma in the Daytona 500 on Sunday. He crashed on the final lap after bumping with Sterling Marlin and Kenny Schrader, trying from third place to fend them off so Michael Waltrip could get his first career victory and his son getting second. In turn 3, Sterling and Dale bumped, causing Dale to come up the track, bumping Kenny Schrader, sending Earnhardt heading into the wall at 180 m.p.h. He died instantly. Michael Waltrip did win the 43rd annual Daytona 500 with Dale Earnhardt coming home in 12th in his final race ever. "NASCAR has lost it's greatest driver ever", Mike Helton said, who is the president of NASCAR, and he is correct. We will all miss Dale very much, and he is now in heaven racing with Neil Bonnett, Tim Richmond, Alan Kulwicki, Davey Allison, Adam Petty, Kenny Irwin Jr., Tony Roper, and other deceased racing heroes. My heart goes out to the Earnhardt family, crew, the other drivers, all of NASCAR, and the fans.
Dale Earnhardt --- April 29, 1951 - February 18, 2001.
Now that Dale is gone, it will take a while but I am going to root for Dale Earnhardt Jr. now. I am making an exact replica of this page and putting it under: Old Homepage Dec 99 to Feb 01. December 1999 is when this page first opened. I will place this same page word for word so it will be left exactly as it should be, and my new homepage will slowly develop into a Earnhardt Jr. page, but i won't forget Dale Earnhardt Sr. Thank you and let us all try to work past this horrible tragedy.
