Creating a Room

At first, it will look really complicated, but don't worry, you'll get used to it, and you probably won't ever use most of the buttons anyway.

Try creating a wall, by dragging a red box out onto the screen. It is easier if you keep it on the grid. It is red because it is currently selected. While something is selected, you can press Backspace to delete it. To select something, hold down shift and click on it.

You will be looking down on your wall from above, but at this angle you cannot change the height, so you will need to change it so that you can see it from the side. Click on the button indicated in the picture below to change yhe view mode.

Now you to click slightly off the top of your wall to stretch it up. Now it should look something like this from the side.

Now press Escape to deselect the wall. Change the wiew to top view, and drag another wall like this.

Now repeat this untill you have walls making a room. Then it should look something like this from above.

The next step is to make a floor , so change to the front veiw, and drag out a flat shape at the bottom of your room, like this

Now change back to top, to check that your floor is covering the whole of your room, and there is no hole. It should look like this.

Then go back to front view and do the same for the roof.

If you tried to play your level now, everything would be black and you would see nothing, so now we need to the add texture to walls. Hold shift and click on all four walls to select them. Go to the Inspectors window, and select the Media tab, as shown below.

Search through the folders to find a texture you want, then just double click it and the walls will take on thisd texture. Be patient as they take a while to load! Now delselect the walls by pressing Escape, and change to front view so that you can select the floor and roof, and select a texture for them. The texture should appear on the walls in the Cam window. This window shows you what nthings will look like in the game, and it should now look somehting like this.

This shows you the room I have made.

The blue triangular shape on the grid show you where the camera is currently placed in your level. Use the directional buttons to move the camera and look around your room.

It will be pitch black, so we need to add light. Right click, and select light. Make sure the center of the light is in the room on all view modes. See below.

Congratulations! You've made your first room!
