"Do you believe in something beautiful? Get up and be it."-Ted Leo
Angela update part October 28th 2005
My parents would have been married 21 years today. I still feel like the oddest little kid in the world for feeling better once they seperated.
stolen shamelessly from MySpace because I want to change that profile but feel that this was the best summary I ever created for myself:
"I hope life isn't just one big joke, because I don't get it"-jack handey.
that's pretty much the sumation of my existence, but just to be egocentric and of course, American, I'll tell you more about myself.
I'm Angela, 20 years old and scared of birthdays. I'm notorious for wanting to do way too much and getting absolutely nothing accomplished. I have a lot of top notch ideas, but not many that I put into action. That is, unless we're talking theme parties. I am to theme parties what Burl Ives is to claymation snowmen. My resume includes: ramen pinata, jello slip n slide, tofurkey thanksgiving, ramen slip n slide, 4th of july moonbounce, martini and bathrobe night, and the crowning gem: pi(e) slip n slide, pie wrestling, and pie twister party.
I don't bother with the dating thing right now. One big mistake I've made is defining my personal successes by the relationships I've had. I learned the hard way that only I can dictate my happiness, and so I'm taking steps away from who I was and leaps toward who I want to become. I'm not especially talented at anything. I can't play any instruments or sing or speak Russian or knit. My strengths are between the lines. I can't pinpoint them and I don't want to because life isn't supposed to be so cut and dry. But I know when I'm wrong, I know how to make you laugh, I know how to laugh at myself, how to make you feel like the only person in the room, and how to be someone you want to know. At this point in my life, I'm focused on college. I don't love it, but I need it to keep growing.
My college majors have included: film production, education, biology, pre-veterinary medicine, computer science, and anthropology. It's taken two long years to find the right fit, but for me happiness takes an academic form in Public Relations and now I'm on the quest to find a strong PR program so I can graduate in 2007 like I'm supposed to. Ultimately, I want to be a grown woman with four kids and a husband who is just as excited to have four kids as I someday will be. And I want us to be excited about each other but exist independently and I want us to have lots of pets and we'll read The Giving Tree and every Roald Dahl book we can find and we'll teach our children the value of appreciating every living thing yet somehow we will NOT be hippies. We'll be realistic and we'll bathe regularly and wear shoes but we won't hesitate to jump in puddles on rainy days.
Fun Angela Facts: I have a website, The Evil Sock Monkey Conspiracy, which is published in the book 505 Unbelievably Stupid Web Pages. I went on vacation this year to Iceland with my friend Nathan and the Pixies stayed in our hotel(!!). I recently learned that guys don't need toilet paper when they pee. I spent a month in New York in this NYU summer program where I got to do nothing but write plays and talk about pies with my friend Ben (he is on my friends list here. ubercool guy). I have a cat named Sifl after the tv show Sifl and Olly. Sifl plays fetch and can jump over four feet in the air. He also craps in the bathtub.
Other than that, I have a lot of likes and not many dislikes. Except for scenesters, I like just about everyone. I very much enjoy hanging out at the local animal shelter and I work with Show Me Pets, a pet rescue group in town. I really love poetry especially ee cummings and I'm a sucker for good literature and old books by GK Chesterton. Goes without saying, I love to write. I really don't write anything good, but I've got stacks of notebooks full of one acts, sketches, Onion-esque articles, etc. hidden away at my old house. My favorite band is the Postal Service. I believe very strongly in taoism, though like everyone, I have a rough go putting it to use in my life. I love making films, photography, digital editing, mod-podging, and I'm trying to teach myself how to crochet. That should cover it for now.
