It is located approximately halfway between Puerto Rico and Trinidad. The island is the most rugged and mountainous in the Caribbean and its volcanic origins are still very much in evidence. It has an excellent rainforest cover and is replete with rivers, waterfalls and even a prominent boiling lake, one of the world's largest of its type.
