Lost
Waking in the room
All cold and damp
Grabbing for my knees
And tucking them up under my chin
Wondering how I had allowed this to happen
It was never my plan
Things that were never meant to be
Now filled my days
Boxed into the canyon
With no apparent escape
The cackles rising along my back
Forming that line of division
Shall I strike back
Or should I
... just slip away

Reflections
Look at those eyes
That deep driving force
Of daggers piercing the skin
Probbing deep into the mind
Searching for the answers
Only to find none
Why did it have to happen
What caused the joy to end
Cones of silence swirled the room
Where once was laughter and joy
Dark luminous clouds pushed at the door
This is how it will remain
No answers , no laughter , no joy
As I toss the jar at the mirror
Splinters of glass ...
Tumbling to the floor

Flip a Coin
Sitting here all alone
Pondering my future
Trying to make the right decisions
Without your opinion
Is like a tomatoe sandwich,
without mayo
How can I possibly choose
What would be the right call
Would it be best to leave you
with good memories
Or should I allow you to watch,
me wilt
To become a shadow of what once was
If the table were turned
How would you decide ?
...
Would you just flip a coin ?

The Awakening
I awoke to find myself straddled
across the bench seat
The complete emptiness of the moment
began to take grasp
Hollow to the fact that was
How had I become so lost
Lost jubilation from the previous days
Puzzlement creeping in , clouding the mind
What had shattered the dream
To awaken in this desolate place
Seemed only moments before that I was complete
With the sparkle and joy ,
that children seemed blessed with
Why did I have to grow up
For what reason did I awake

The Quest
Wandering down the trail of time
I search for what is missing
There is no plan
It is all by hunch
The last seeds of life are disappearing
Each day the sun passes by
I wonder if there will be another
All is lost on a cloudy day
I know not where to look
There was a time when I was sure
The wind has brought much to bear
Slowing my quest
I wonder not
For I will find it soon
The next hill I climb or path I take
It is time to shift
Make way for a new day
The birds have sung their song
Joy crosses my thoughts
Just one last step to take

Memories to Hold
If only you knew
That my days were not long
Would you allow them to waste away
With those silly games
The ones you tend to play
To check as to whether I am worthy
The sands slip past
One grain at a time
It looks like we have forever
But little do you know
That my hour glass
Comes up short
By a handfull of that precious,
white sand
So hold me close
Just one last time
It will take but a moment
For when the dawn comes
I might be gone
There will no longer be
anything to hug
Just faint memories to hold
