DIRECTOR'S LETTER of WELCOME PURPOSE Texas Secular Society is Dedicated to: The Principle of Separation of Church and State The Advancement of Personal and Individual Religious Freedom The Respect and Tolerance of ALL Religious Viewpoints By: Keeping spirituality, or lack thereof, as a well thought out personal choice and conviction through Education, Fellowship, Support and Action with Individuals and in Co-operation with other Like Oriented Groups in Texas and Nationally. We are open to All Religious Attitudes, Conventional or Unconventional from Atheist to Fundamentalist, CREED We have no specific 'creed' but encourage 'freethinking', defined as: "the forming of opinions on the basis of reason, independent of tradition, authority, or established belief", and are Committed to Actively Defend the Strict Separation of Church & State and Promote Tolerance of ALL Spiritual Viewpoints, or lack thereof within or without of the Conventional Religious Community. If you have a individual viewpoint on religious faith, or no faith at all, and object to conventional, institutionalized religion's single minded, divisive and many times bigoted viewpoint but feel 'alone', we assure you there are many other Texans sharing your thoughts. We are here to provide information on special events, meetings and discussions promoting Separation of Church and State and Religious Tolerance being held here in Texas and/or help you find 'kindred spirits' near you whether you live in an urban or rural area. Let us 'help you to help us' counter the divisiveness, bias and tunnel-vision of the "Religious Right" and foster an open minded and rational spiritual atmosphere in which to live and raise our children.
