1. Give us some band history, including previous members and what they're doing now?

Formed in April 1999 with Jamie"Satan"Fish(vocals), Dale(lead guitar), Becky(rhythm guitar) and Sado(bass). Although we didn't have a drummer we weren't detered and began to write our own material. Our debut charity gig was held in Somerfields car park, with Rob from SEMTEX filling in on drums. We were approached by Nikki(Groundsheet) who wanted to join as a guitarist but we asked him to join as a drummer to which he said "I've never played drums before, but what the fuck, I'll give it a go". After only two practices, Nikki played his first gig with HOTWIRED, supporting SEMTEX, PROJECT MORK and NUCLEAR ANARCHY PLC, at a friend's birthday party. We entered The Starmaker talent contest in October of that year, and although it was only for a laugh we actually made it to the semi-finals! We got another break when we went to see ON FILE, RETALIATOR and BAKERS DOZEN at the Barking Smack, Gt Yarmouth. BAKERS DOZEN couldn't make it so we filled in using RETALIATOR's gear. Due to uncontrollable circumstances, Jamie left HOTWIRED in December, so Dale took over on vocals. We played a couple of gigs at the Maids Head, during the second of which we blew our PA speakers! February 2000 we recorded our 15 track demo cd entitled "PISSED&KNACKERED". In March we supported PROJECT MORK and W.O.R.M at Fat Pauly's in Norwich, following which we had another gig at the Maids Head. April sees us off for the Easter Punx Picnic at the Goldsmith's Tavern, New Cross. The last gig we played was with WEEVIL at Brunswick,Gt Yarmouth. Yet again we blew our PA!

2. What is the current line-up?

Lead Guitar+vocals: DALE
Guitar+Sax: BECKY
Bass: SADO
Drums: GROUNDSHEET

3.How did you come up with the name Hotwired?

DALE: It was the day before our first gig and I was working on a fork lift truck at work and some twat had lost the keys so I had to hotwire it. I though it sounded a good name for the band. The others agreed so that was that.

4. What other bands influence the music you play?

DALE: The Ramones
SADO: Early 80's, Oi, 4 skins, Blitz, Business etc
BECKY: Violators
GROUNDSHEET: Anything fast and loud, but I'm not allowed to influence the overall sound, I'm a drummer and I can't play the fucking things.Hypothetically, Casualties, Conflict and stuff.

5. What's your favourite song / album of all time?

DALE: Any ballards by Hank Williams/Best album: Mondo Bizaro, Ramones.
SADO: This is a hard one as I've loads of fav's, but I guess The Real Enemy by The Business and fav album is probably Endangered Species by UK Subs.
BECKY: Summer of 81, Violators and Sweet Dreams, The Krewmen.
GROUNDSHEET: Too many to pick one. Jealous again, Black Flag and In Utero, Nirvana, Give me convinience.......Dead Kennedys.

6. What's your favourite song from your own set list and why?

DALE: Resistance is Futile coz it's a great pop song.
SADO: Sad World coz it's got a positive message. It's fucking disgusting that wankers can ruin people's lives in this way.
BECKY: Certified, Have you ever been sectioned under section 3?
GROUNDSHEET: Resistance is Futile coz I like playing it.

7. What music do you secretly like?

DALE: Rock 'n' Roll, especially Little Richard.
SADO: Ska, Hardcore punk and a bit of Metal, although it's not a secret.
BECKY: Ska and Psychobilly.
GROUNDSHEET: Grunge and Hardcore punk.

8. What music did you grow up listening to?

DALE: Chart music, Ramones.
SADO: 2 tone ska punk + Oi.
BECKY: Rockabilly.
GROUNDSHEET: Punk + Metal.

9. What's the most memorable gig you ever played and why?

BAND: Several gigs are memorable for various reasons, but overall it has to be Easter Punks Picnic, London.

10. Do you regard music as a vein through which to project your views, political or otherwise, or is it an issue of money and given the chance you would "sellout" as The Offspring and Green Day are to said to have done?

BAND: We aren't interested in politics, we just write about life in general. We don't really see punk bands getting into the mainstream as a sellout, so long as it isn't produced for the market. They don't forget their roots and they got their of their own merit. But us personally as a band are not interested in getting into the mainstream, we're just in it for the beer, a laugh and the love of punk.

11. What advice would you give to any up and coming punk bands?

We're still looking for advice ourselves. That would be like the blind leading the blind!

12. Any final comments?

Cheers for the support and this interview. We're also looking for gigs and support slots to play, so if anyone can help us out, please get in touch. Also, check out our cd cdemo and website at http://www.punkrockers.currentbun.com/hotwired and contact us on becky@bootboy.free-online.co.uk.
