About four thousand years people came to the America’s and built stone structures that are still a mystery today. Archeologists have been working on trying to find out who the people were that built this place. One possibility is the people that built Stonehenge could have come across on a boat a few thousand years ago and built the houses and the stone circle.
Carbon dates show that they came here in about 710 B.C. which is much earlier then Columbus and Americo Vespucci. From what they built, they look like they were a very successful colony until they died out or left. The stone circle is a circle of stones that way only a few tons and each stone has a purpose. The sunrises and goes down in front of two stone, the moon in front of one stone, and the summer, winter, fall, and spring solstices have their own. In the middle of the stone circle is a flat stone called the sacrificial stone. Archeologists found small grooves so the blood would drip off and go into a hole.
Also there are stonewalls that align with over 200 different astronomical alignments and 45 different stars. Some say that when the settlers came, they built this site, but that is impossible. They align with stars and they could not build such structures as these. The only evidence that they have is they found words carved into the rock. One person has been able to find out what the carvings mean, but I don’t have what it says. That proves that the people were indeed from Europe and the carvings are suppose to be some of the first writings that people could do.
The stone houses go back about ten feet into the ground and are about eight feet tall. That is enough room for someone to in. There are chambers that that priests could pray in.
